Back on the road I go! After an awesome 2 weeks on the farm I hung out in Saskatoon a little bit where I went to a Masquerade Ball put on by the U of S Jazz Ensemble. It was so much fun! We didn't have any masks so we ended up painting them on.
That worked quite well. After visiting Saskatoon family and friends, I got ready for a long stretch of driving. My plan is to be in Ottawa for Remembrance Day. I made it to Winnipeg in one day and ended up staying the night. Originally I wanted to go up to Churchill but the train track is being repaired so I must wait for now until that adventure becomes available to me. Since there were no polar bears to be seen I trucked on. I was in and out of Manitoba within 24 hours of driving. What I saw looked really nice though. My first stop was in Thunder Bay where I was sure to check out the Terry Fox Memorial.
In Ontario there are lots of trees and tiny communities. I'd say most are Hamlets along Highway 11. I ended up being caught in 2 snow storms which meant I had to call my days a bit shorter than expected. Those days were pretty cold sleeping, I even hung blankets to keep in heat and melted snow for water.
However, by morning the sky and most of the roads were clear. Which meant for some gorgeous views. Especially with all the trees and water along the highway.Â
I made it to Ottawa on the night of the 10th and am planning to go downtown on the 11th. Stay tuned for next week's blog for the details! Check out my 'Across Canada' gallery and follow me on Facebook and Instagram.
