This week I get to continue exploring Ontario as a tourist. The first activity of the week was to find a sweet park for Charlie to run in. The park I found is really close to my cousins house, and it's called South March Highlands Conservation Forest. The front half of the park has really easy trails, which continuously got harder and harder the closer you got to the back. There were a lot of rocks to walk on as this park is also meant for bikers.
After seeing some of what the park had to offer I was off to see 2 more museums. One of them was the Museum of Agriculture and the other, the War Museum. The Museum of Agriculture was pretty much a farm in the city. So they had dairy as well as beef cows, chickens, goats, sheep, pigs and horses. After getting to see all the critters I was off to the War Museum for the evening. The museum was so big and has a lot of information!
The next day I got to go and see Hog's Back Falls, so essentially, the start of the lock system in Ottawa. It was really impressive to see how much water was coming through such a small gap from the gate. You could also easily see the power the river had as it waited to be let through. From there I continued to the National Gallery of Canada. This gallery was also pretty large and naturally had a lot of art pieces in it. One piece was a wall that had a bunch of cones of paper on it. Each paper had a close up of someone's skin on it.
After exploring the galleries and museums I headed out to the Russian Christmas market where I tried Borscht (it was pretty good) and the MEC winterfest where I tried beavertails for the first time (delicious). I also got the chance to go watch Thor in 3D with a friend. I haven't seen a 3D movie in forever so it was pretty entertaining. I then left Ottawa and headed to Arnprior where I found the farm of my grandparents and also a park that I have been to once before, both of which were pretty cool. I continued on my way to Mississauga where I saw the Nikon head office. In there they had a small collection of antique photography equipment.
My week ended with me heading to Toronto where I met the brother of Tyler (the Saskatchewan farmer from a few weeks back). Stay posted to hear about my Toronto adventures in my next blog. In the mean time feel free to browse the images in the 'Across Canada" Gallery and follow me on Facebook and Instagram.
