I hope everyone had fun during the Christmas holidays in whatever manner you like to celebrate it. This year was a whole new experience for me. It started on the 21st in Guelph. There I went to an 'Almost Christmas Show' with Connor and Robin. It's a show their classmates put together each year with various acts, and performances. Naturally, most of the people that attended were from Guelph and knew each other. All the ones I talked to seemed really nice though. Apparently a Guelph thing is to wear Blundstones. Almost everyone there was wearing a pair. While we were in the Guelph area Robin and I went to Eden Mills to explore his home town. There we got to climb a tree tower that Robin built when he was a bit younger.Â
After exploring the Guelph area Robin and I drove Carlton out to Parry Sound. Our destination was a cabin on Georgian Bay where Robin's parents live. The cabin was absolutely gorgeous. It's a bit bigger and the one I was sleeping in had an east facing window, which means I woke up to the sunrise each morning. We also had a wood stove we had to stock throughout the night. Luckily it never died to a point where we needed a match to relight it.Â
While we were out there, we went on multiple walks exploring the Bay. On these walks, I started to learn how to properly read ice. I feel that is an important thing to know, especially out here where the ice will go out to sea and back. Christmas was spent at the cabin with Robin and his parents which was really nice. One of their traditions was Stollen bread (a German fruit loaf with Marzipan inside)Â and crepes. All of which was delicious.Â
After Christmas I got to see my cousin Christine and her family again, as well as my Aunt Laurie. All in all I thought it was a good way to spend Christmas. I even got a bunch of Froot Loops to carry on my family's tradition of Christmas breakfasts. I will post again in the New Year. But, until then be sure to check out my 'Across Canada' gallery and follow me on Facebook and Instagram.
