Robin and I decided to stay at the cabin a bit longer and just hang out. On the 4th I had my first day of teaching English online to students in Shanghai. It's early mornings but so far it's been pretty fun. So, I started the day off teaching and did random things throughout the day. At this cabin there is no running water or heat. So, I got to go chop through the ice multiple times in order to collect drinking water. We also got to chop firewood for the stove. It was hard work but super fun. Especially when we managed to pull the ice out of the hole and put it on display beside the hole.Â
On the Friday we chopped the ice once more before deciding to head out to Toronto. For quite a few years I have wanted to go dine at O'Noir for it's 'Dine in the Dark' experience. Well, that time has come. We had supper there and it was 100% what I imagined it to be. The room was pitch black and it was really cool to see how everything was handled and to learn how we take seeing for granted. Even for things as simple as what side the doors were on. The next day we got ready for a birthday party for someone in Toronto. We decided to bring a very important part to the party... a piñata. It had so much candy in it and was cool to see how you are supposed to fill it all up.
After our adventures in Toronto we headed back to Ottawa for a day of prepping for the 'non-holidays' again. This also included me continuing to learn how to play 'Magic'. The game is quite involved and can have a lot of things happening. To finish off the week I drove to Gatineau (Aylmer) to start at another workaway location. On my first day I learned how to cook Sole fillets. I feel like I will be learning quite a few new recipes here. But the adventures at this house are for another blog. While you wait for the next blog feel free to check out my 'Across Canada' Gallery and follow me on both Facebook and Instagram.
