After returning from Guelph I settled back into the house where I am currently housesitting. It's a really cute place and I'm really glad that I'm here. Friday had me starting off at my new job selling Maple Taffy on the Rideau Canal during Winterlude, a festival in Ottawa and Gatineau that celebrates winter. It is a pretty easy job and I'm outside all day, which is a bonus. I tried a little bit of the taffy and it is so sweet, holy man. A lot of people absolutely love it, and it seems to be a tradition of sorts to some.Â
On Sunday I wasn't working and so I actually got to attend Winterlude, which I was super happy about. Sophie and I went on a photography adventure to Parc Jacques-Cartier and Confederation Park, where Winterlude is taking place. There were some really cool snow and ice sculptures. They even had someone leaf-blowing the snow sculptures as it was snowing outside. The detail in all the sculptures were amazing. There was also a busker named Tim Burr doing a really impressive and well thought out performance, which the crowd seemed to really enjoy.
The rest of the week involved me helping my aunt, teaching online, and doing various things around my house. February 6th also marked an important day: I have officially been on the road for 5 months! It's crazy to think half of my planned trip is already over. But I am really happy with my overall experience so far and look forward to future expeditions. Be sure to read about them in my future blogs. In the mean time check out my images in my 'Across Canada' gallery and follow me on Facebook and Instagram.
