This week started off by visiting the Canadian War Museum once more, but this time with Connor and Robin. Our main spot was the "Bat Cave" where all the artillery is. I found it so interesting to see how things were used and how tight the spaces are in the back of tanks.Â
On Friday Connor, Olivier and I went to the Museum of Science and Technology. They had a quiet room where the sounds of the crowds just died away. It was quite surreal to experience a room with minimal echo, making you feel like you always had to whisper in the room. There was also a giant turn table where you could manipulate certain songs or sounds, which a toddler had some fun spinning around while sitting on it. Connor and I then continued on to help a neighbour, Brigitte, do some odd jobs in her house.Â
Since it was my last weekend in Ottawa we decided to make a blanket fort in the house. It was pretty sweet. We brought an air mattress in and then also used Connor's bed. It was so enjoyable we ended up sleeping in it. I am pretty sure I accidentally used Charlie as a pillow at one point while I was sleeping. We also went to an escape room, which is an activity where players have to follow a series of clues to find an object hidden within a room in a set amount of time. The one we went to was "Physco" in the Escape Manor. We succeeded with just over 3 minutes to spare. The room was really well done and had a lot of minute details, which made it all the more enjoyable.
Monday started my journey eastbound once more. I landed at a Workaway farm in Saint Alban, Quebec where they have a greenhouse and a sugar shack. The family seems really nice here. For the first few days I worked on cutting up a lot of garlic, helping in the sugar shack and also working on strings for the tomatoes to grow on. We stayed inside most of the time as we got an awesome snowstorm. Wednesday morning we woke up with about a foot of snow on the ground. Charlie and Lana (the other dog) had a blast tustling in the snow.Â
Watch for my blog next week for the rest of the adventures on this farm. In the mean time be sure to check out my 'Across Canada' gallery and follow me on Facebook and Instagram.
