It's time for my third province: Saskatchewan! I entered Saskatchewan on a back road east of Altario, so there was no big border sign unfortunately. However, I did see some friendly aliens instead. They were just chilling out on the side of the road welcoming us across the border. A friendly first impression if you ask me.
After chatting it up with the aliens Charlie and I headed to Luseland to visit a friend. Charlie made two more dog friends, Bubbles and Avicii. They were both big sweethearts. We hung out in town for the night then we were off. Our first stop was in Southern Saskatchewan, the Great Sandhills. I had no idea that Canada even had sand dunes! Learning about our country is what this adventure is all about though. The sand dunes were really cool. I had 2 favourite parts; the arch of boots at the beginning of the trail as well as being able to see how the dunes moved with the wind and weather. Charlie just loved to be able to run and play. He even found a little bone at one point which he really enjoyed gnawing on.
At the park we actually met a fellow traveller, and as it turns out she is from New Brunswick! We had a nice little chat while I was cooking supper and they were getting ready for their own sand dune adventures. Just before dark fall Charlie and I hit the road again to see another friend. The house we stayed in may have some significance to some of you. Do you recognize it?
Yup, it's the house of Oscar and Emma from Corner Gas. It's actually a really cute little house inside and has a nice layout. At this point our journey took us Northbound to Regina. It was here that I sold my Nikon D3s body, so now I shoot solely on the Nikon D750. Regina then led to a nice walk around a lake and onward to Saskatoon. Here I went dancing with my cousin and some new friends and Charlie had a good time meeting various new people who knew where the good parks were.Â
This week my blog is only for 5 days rather than a full week. Our next piece of the journey is up at a farm near Shell Lake and I want that experience covered in the 2 upcoming blogs. I will be working via the Workaway organization and will tell you all about in future posts. In the mean time be sure to check out my 'Across Canada' gallery and follow me on Facebook and Instagram.
