This past while has been a phenomenal time! I'm part of the Workaway organization and found a farm near Shell Lake called Lazy Plum. For the past couple weeks, I've been working on this farm and it was a great place to stay! I was so happy I stayed there as they were so kind and friendly on the farm. Tyler and Dianne (the owners) were both very smart and are continuously building on to their self-sufficient farm. The whole time I was there I was in charge of feeding the Tamworth pigs. They were a lot of fun to hang out with.
They also had a herd of yaks. My favourite part about the yaks is there fluffy tails. When they run the tails flip up and look really cool because they are so hairy. There was one young yak named Fdiap who was super friendly. When he was little he was found Face Down In A Puddle (F.D.I.A.P) and was nursed back to health. Unfortunately, his Mom rejected him so Fdiap stayed in the farmyard and now thinks that he is a dog. It's pretty funny to see a young yak galloping around with three dogs.
Speaking of dogs Charlie met 2 new friends on this farm, Eddie and Ernie. Charlie loved playing with Eddie as they are both close to the same age and full of energy. They would constantly chase each other and goof around. I liked to watch how they each owned their own tactics to play. Charlie was all speed and quick movements while Eddie used more weight as he is a Saint Bernard cross. Ernie is a bit older than the young pups so he would follow and play a bit but not as much as Charlie and Eddie.Â
Throughout the weeks there I did various jobs; this could range from splitting wood, moving animals, working on fence and any other thing that needed work done. I had a blast and was super lucky to go to the Lazy Plum farm for my first Workaway experience. Unfortunately, now I am done working there, but that means I am continuing on Eastward.
