Now, what should one do in B.C.? Hike of course. My first stop in B.C. was Dawson Creek. There are so many oilfield trucks, something I am definitely not used to. I was sticking out like a sore thumb there, that's for sure.Â
The first night of sleeping in Dawson Creek I decided to park on a back road. Guess who was knocking on my window in the morning? A police officer. No, I wasn't in trouble. Someone had called me in as apparently there had been a rural crime that night. Â In Dawson Creek they have a pioneer village that was really interesting to see. They have quite the nice little setup there. I always find the old buildings and how they are setup really fascinating. Like how the teachers would have a room in the back of the school.Â
Up in Fort St.John there aren't as many big trucks. But on the way there you can see a really cool metal bridge. Naturally I had to go check it out. There was a walkway underneath the bridge. That was definitely a really cool spot. Especially with the big semi trucks a few mere metres above you. I've noticed that I often end up going lower or higher than the subject I shooting. It gets the vantage point a bit different than everyone else. Apparently I also really like the different bridges. There was also a wooden curved bridge on the Alaska Highway. Both the bridges were really interesting to walk under and explore.
After exploring Dawson Creek I headed to Tumbler Ridge. The hikes are gorgeous!! I went along Tepee Falls, Flatbed Pools, the Stone Corral and Kinuseo Falls. The Stone Corral and Tepee Falls were breathtaking. I only got a small taste of the Tumbler Ridge area. But I can tell you I will definitely be heading back. There are so many things to see up here, and so many secret spots and hideaway areas.Â
